Russia reports downing 19 Ukrainian drones over Kursk as part of latest aerial attacks

Russia’s military said Monday it shot down 19 Ukrainian drones over the Kursk region, along the border between the two countries, marking the second consecutive day that Ukraine focused a large attack on the area.
The governor of Kursk reported on Telegram that drones were shot down in the region, but did not mention any damage or casualties.
In Russia’s Voronezh region, Governor Aleksandr Gusev said debris from a downed Ukrainian drone damaged a utility infrastructure facility, but caused no casualties.
The Russian defense ministry said it shot down a total of three drones over Voronezh, as well as nine over the Belgorod region, five over Bryansk and three over Leningrad.
Ukraine has used aerial drones to attack areas in Russia, particularly along the Ukraine-Russia border, as it tries to fight off an invasion Russia launched in early 2022.
Ukraine’s military said Monday that Russia attacked overnight with a guided missile and 10 aerial drones.
Ukrainian air defense shot down the missile and nine of the drones, the military said, with intercepts taking place over the Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Kirovohrad regions.
